Montana State University is switching to a lottery system for the upcoming residence hall application cycle

In an effort to better serve our students and ensure a process that is fair and equitable, Montana State University has changed to a lottery system for the upcoming residence hall application cycle.

In the past, the residence hall housing application process was based on a first come, first served model, which created stress and access challenges for students. This change is in response to direct feedback from applicants and aims to reduce the competitive nature of the process. As you commit to attend Montana State University, we encourage you to apply early to mark this step off your checklist.

The housing application launches at 9am (MDT) on October 1, 2024.

To apply for housing, you must log into the housing portal. Please visit University Student Housing websites for detailed information on housing options.

If you have not yet applied for admission to Montana State University, please click Register in the menu above.

Login instructions for new users:

1. Click Login.

2. Enter your Preferred Email (the email you have selected in My Info as your preferred email).

3. Click Forgotten or New Password.

4. Check your preferred email for a message containing a link to set your password.

5. Set your password and log-In.

Unsure of your preferred email? The housing portal uses the preferred email address listed in My Info. If you do not know your preferred email, you may visit My Info to view or update your preferred email.
